Overall, Commodore is in a convenient location near the Ala Moana Shopping Center, Ala Moana Beach Park, and Waikiki. The building doesn't have any fancy amenities and therefore has relatively low maintenance fees. Commodore Waikiki is pet friendly and has direct gated access to the canal. One big plus is that certain units feature their own large lanai/patios. One oddity is that despite the name "Commodore Waikiki" the building is technically within the Ala Moana neighborhood and not Waikiki. The downsides of Commodore Waikiki are that not all units have a washer/dryer in the unit so some units have to use the community laundry. Also since it is a walk-up, it becomes cumbersome when you need to trek up the stairs to bring up groceries.
